Comet Holmes

Not having heard there was a bright comet visible, I actually independently discovered this comet. I was going to view the Double Cluster in Perseus but while the scope was slewing over to the star cluster the finder scope stumbled over this round glowing light.

At first I thought it was an artifact from the telescope but it was on view using binoculars and easily visible with the naked eye.

It was only till I searched on the internet that I found out the comet had been discovered.

I have to admit, I was pretty excited about the idea though!
