Baader MPCC Adaptor (22/10/06)
My reflector did not have enough in focus to make the MPCC work with my Canon EOS 350D so I modifyed a 2" Eyepiece adaptor.
The image above shows the focuser of my 200mm Reflector which the 2" MPCC need to be slotted into.
The problem I had was that the opening for the adaptor was not the right size, so I modifyed the 2" eyepiece adaptor and cut off the end section which managed to attach correctly.
I used a hacksaw and removed the end of the 2" eyepiece adaptor. The image below shows what was left.
So as the MPCC would have a secure fit i drilled a few hole which lined up with the ring found on the end of the 200mm focuser.
The image below show the MPCC attached to the 350D T-ring.
I filed down the modifyed 2" eyepiece adaptor to make it smooth and positioned it into the focuser. It seems to have worked very well and creates a nice secure fit. In the image you can see that i have used two longer bolts which hold the MPCC in place. It would be an advantage to have ones that you could turn easier (thumb screw type).
I managed to carry out a quick star test ISO 800, 8 seconds, unguided (so there is a slight trail). The mount was not polar aligned but the image does show the MPCC can focus well. It actually only just manages to focus so it shall be very easy to locate the correct position along the tube as all you need to do is wind the focuser all the way in, then just a small bit out.
This image below shows another test shot, and is the far bottom right of the frame
