The Birch Tree Observatory

When I took up astronomy I had always wanted my own back yard observatory.

The though of being able to roll back a roof and just begin observing was going to be a dream come true and when we moved into our new house the possibility became a reality. With the terrible Scottish weather I would finally be able to get some viewing done without the usual setting up of equipment just in time for the clouds.

This web page shall be a construction record for other amateur astronomers to look at and hopefully aid them in building their own roll-off roof observatory.
